Frequently Asked Questions

Are your skincare products organic?

We take pride in our quality, sustainably sourced ingredients and use organic when we can. However, our beeswax and kokum butter are not organic. Our beeswax is 100% natural and locally sourced from our favorite beekeeper. No one can predict the flowers of which bees gather pollen, so for this reason it is difficult to source organic beeswax. Our kokum butter is derived from the inner seeds of the fruit and is naturally protected from any sprayed chemicals that may be used during cultivation. When harvested, it is extracted without the use of chemicals or additives. For this reason we find it comparable to ingredients that are certified organic.

What skin types are your products suitable for?

Since all skin types are different, we cannot guarantee the same results for everyone, however, our products are formulated with even the most sensitive skin type in mind. We stand behind our products being suitable for all skin types, including dry, oily, acne prone, and sensitive skin.

Are your products vegan?

Our Vegan Calendula Balm and Botanical Face Oil are vegan and cruelty-free! If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out! We believe in using only the best ingredients that are gentle on both your skin and the environment.

Why is my balm gritty or grainy?

You may have noticed that sometimes there seems to be a "grainy texture" - this is completely normal, especially during winter and summer when temperatures fluctuate. A grainy balm will still melt on contact with your skin and the texture does not change the quality of your balm.

Choosing all-natural products that do not contain emulsifiers, stabilizers, and other “chemicals” or synthetic ingredients, comes at a small price – a possible variation in textures and some graininess. The grittiness is nothing but the fatty particles of butter that can form if your product does not cool quickly enough, or if your product is stored in areas where the temperature fluctuates enough to partly melt and re-solidify your product. This can occur naturally in a home where the temperature fluctuates by 10-20 degrees, or it can happen when your product is in transit and sits in a delivery truck for a few hours, or in a storage warehouse (for example UPS or USPS).

How do I fix my gritty or grainy balm?

We do everything in our power to deliver a product you will love. If you received a balm that has gone grainy, don't stress! You can easily fix it by completely melting it again (over a double boiler on low heat - be sure to not let ANY water mix with the balm) and quickly cooling it in the freezer for about 30 minutes to let it resolidify. The texture should be nice and smooth for you again.
